OLED screen burn-in: How new OLED TV overcomes the burn-in issues

When you will go to a market to buy the best quality TV or if you do market research then you will find that OLED TVs are best than any other LED TV. OLED displays are best ever than any other LED or LCD display. First, we should know how it works and what are burn-in issues. LG is the main manufacturer of OLED displays. The full form of OLED is an organic light-emitting diode. Oled emits the light of its own. In other LEDs, they have an LCD backlight source but in the case of OLED it does not have any backlight source, it has self-lit pixels technology. Oled contains 8.3 million lights that emit light only when required. When it comes to the dark scene or black scene, the pixels shut down its light instead of dimming, that’s why we get thousands of times deeper black in Oled TVs.

What is burn-in?

People who used Plasma TV may know what burn-in is because there is a lot of burn-in issues in Plasma TVs. Don’t worry I will explain it to all of you who don’t know what burn-in are. When you kept watching the same channel or any particular game for many days about 4 to 5 months, then the logo of the channel or game gets stick to the TV. This problem mainly occurs in Oled displays. But this doesn’t happen in normal use of Oled TV. I have personally seen the burn-in issues in OLED TVs.

In 2018 I was working in LG as a sales executive. The new OLED TVs were placed in our showroom. The clarity of OLED is so mind-blowing that it multiplies the beauty of any picture or video. So we added the photo of “Golden Temple” in its gallery and paused that photo. The Oled seems to be like a photo frame. This looks very attractive, we daily displayed that photo in OLED so that customers can ask by themselves about TV. But a few weeks later the yellowish tone of that ‘Golden Temple’ photo gets stick to the screen.

Despite that, I have seen the video of Rtings.com, in which they are testing Oled burn-in issues. They run the same content on Oled and LCD for about thousands of hours. In the end, Oled gets the burn-in issues but they also said that it doesn’t affect the normal or daily use of Oled.

The burn-in solution in new OLED TVs:

Now what did you think about Oled TV, should you bought Oled TV or not. Don’t worry i will tell you the solution with proof.

In 2021 all Oled comes with “Screen Shift” (in LG OLED) and “Pixel shift” (in SONY OLED) settings. These OLEDs are also embedded with “pixel refresher” settings. When you switch on the “Shift Screen” button, the screen will start shifting its position after every few minutes that can’t be noticed with an eye. This settings help alot in reducing burn in and image retention issues. Pixel refresher plays a great role in reducing burn in. Pixel refresher starts automatically after every three to four times of use a day for 7 minutes. After 2000 hours of cumulative use the pixel refresher starts automatically that runs for one hour. The vertical lines start appearing on TV. You can also run the pixel refresher manually from settings to avoid image retention.

Apart from these things, I personally recommend you to buy Oled because this is the real value for money. If you want to spend 1 lakh rupee on TV then Oled is the best option than any other TV.
